My name is Goodluck Chibuike Chidiebere, aka GOCHI. I’m an indigene of Abia State, but I’m currently based in Lagos. I’m a Rapper, Singer, Songwriter and Audio engineer.
I started rapping in 2013. I was influenced by older brother, he wasn’t actually a rapper but in 2010, he used to bump these old school rap tapes in the living room, from there I started falling in love with rap and singing along to the lyrics but everything started in 2013 when I stumbled on a rap beat on my phone. I remember vividly, I wanted to download rap song then and I mistakenly downloaded the instrumental, started freestyling on it with my friend Emeka (we sounded wack as hell) but that moment sparked up the Gochi you know today.
Though I started rapping since 2013, I never really made a song, I was just vibing, catching criuse and rapping for fun. But all that changed in 2018, when I wrote a mad 16. It sounded so dope to me, i told myself I had to record this properly in a studio but prior to that i used a make songs(on my phone) and send to my WhatsApp contacts who always gave me good feedback then. The title of my first song is 106 & Barz.
My brother came up the title. Lol. It’s probably somewhere on SoundCloud.
2018 was the same year I had my big break, I auditioned for the Hennessy vs class and was among the 40 Rappers that was selected to battle on air. Came out on top of the class I was in that year and eventually made it to the grande finale where I lost.
Back in 2018, I was known for my metaphors and witty word plays. Nowadays I just Freestyle, tell stories with my rap, drop a few punches here and there. I’ve grown a lot since them. The new me an epitome of bars, flow, delivery, wordplay, metaphor, Cadence, and story telling.
Here’s a clip of me freestyling at the Vs Class. This was the first I used the ‘meeeh’ sound you always hear on my songs and Freestyles. After the freestyle l kinda stuck to it 👇👇
Currently i have this Freestyle thingy going on IG which i call The #GochiFreestyleSeries
Y’all should check it out
Before l, i can attest to that. Brace for massive impact.
